Private Prayer Requests

Private requests are designed for people who want prayer support without publishing the request on the public Prayer Wall.

Enable private requests

Go to:

Intercessor → Settings → General → Approval Rules

Enable:

Allow Private Requests

The Prayer Form will then offer a private-request option.

What happens to a private request?

When a visitor selects the private option, Intercessor stores the request with:

  • private status
  • public visibility disabled

Private requests therefore do not appear on the public Prayer Wall.

Privacy distinction

Private is different from anonymous:

  • Anonymous — the request can be public, but the requester's name is hidden.
  • Private — the request itself is not publicly displayed.

REST API protection

Public REST consumers cannot use the API to expose private requests. A request that is not public, or that has private status, is rejected for callers who do not have the appropriate moderation capability.

WARNING

Private prayer requests may contain sensitive pastoral information. Limit access to trusted users and configure WordPress permissions accordingly.
